Cooling Particle Accelerators: Linear Accelerators and Cyclotrons

Introduction

Particle accelerators, such as linear accelerator (LINAC) and cyclotron systems, increase the kinetic energy of particles for use in a variety of applications, ranging from scientific studies on particle physics to radiation therapy for cancer patients. Particle accelerators, like most sensitive medical and laboratory equipment, are negatively affected by thermal variations, specifically an increase in heat. Temperature control of vital particle accelerator system components is critical for operational integrity, performance accuracy and system reliability.

DA-020-12-02

The DA-020-12-02 is a thermoelectric based air conditioner designed to temperature control small chambers used in analytical and medical diagnostic instruments. The unique design offers premium fans pushing air across-high density heat sinks to minimize the number of air flow paths required to operate. The design utilizes custom thermoelectric modules to maximize cooling capacity with a high coefficient of performance. Moisture resistant insulation is used to keep condensation from penetrating the thermoelectric module cavity.

Hot swappable, 5-micron water filter for filtering particulates from the coolant circuit.

Flow Control Valve and Flow Sensing Kit

Externally installed valve for reducing the overall flow to the application. Full flow continues through the chiller to maintain high heat transfer rates and temperature stability. Flow meter for measuring coolant flow rate. Installed external to the chiller with both a local display and connectivity to chiller LCD display.
