Thermoelectric Cooling for Projection Lasers

Introduction

Laser projectors used for entertainment applications utilize laser modules to generate 4K-resolution images with a robust color palette and up to 75,000 lumens. While commercial laser projector systems quickly have evolved to be more energy-efficient, these systems still require up to 6kW to generate bright, high-resolution images. This is needed to project in cinemas and large venues at stadiums. Consequently, the high-power laser systems generate a significant amount of heat during operation.

Recirculating Chillers for Industrial Lasers

Introduction

Industrial lasers are used for a wide range of applications including cutting, welding, micro-machining, additive manufacturing and drilling. No matter the application, industrial laser systems generate a significant amount of heat. There are several different types of industrial laser technologies, ultimately distinguished by the power density of the laser and its use. The commonality of every laser system is the need for advanced cooling of the power source and the laser optics.

WL5000

The WL5000 is a re-circulating liquid to air heat exchanger that offers dependable, compact performance by removing large amounts of heat from a liquid circuit. The coolant is re-circulated using a high-pressure pump to assure maximum flow rate. Heat from coolant is absorbed by a radiant heat exchanger and dissipated into the ambient environment using brand name fan. Manual adjustments can be made to control flow switch. Customized features are available, however, MOQ applies.

WL3000 User Manual

The WL3000 cooling unit is intended to remove heat from a liquid circuit. The coolant can be either water or a mixture of water and water-glycol (antifreeze). Water circulates in a closed loop between the ambient cooling system and a cold plate at the heat source. Heat is removed from water by an air-cooled heat exchanger. The capacity of the cooling unit is dependent on the temperature differential, which is defined as the difference between the ambient temperature and the water outlet temperature.
